You must be at the CHE Downtown Heliport at least 30 minutes before your departure time. We are afraid that tours will not wait for late comers. We depart on time with or without you and if you miss your tour you will be charged the full amount of your reservation.
You must arrive at the heliport 30 minutes before your departure time. The total Chicago Helicopter Experience takes about an hour.
Chicago Helicopter Experience tours depart from our own heliport in downtown Chicago located at 2420 S Halsted St, Chicago IL 60608.
The C.H.E. Downtown Heliport is only 2.5 miles from the Loop (city center) which equates to about an 8 minute car ride. There is plenty of free parking at our heliport right in front of our customer experience center.
If you decide to venture here using the CTA, The Halsted Bus #8 or the CTA Orange Line drops you off right next door to the heliport and is about a 10 min train ride from the Loop (city center).
The Chicago Helicopter Experience customer experience center is where you will check in for your flight and explore our exhibits displaying our beautiful city’s history and our heliport.
YES! Pictures are what this is all about! You may bring your camera and take pictures throughout your flight. We do not allow pictures during loading operations for safety reasons, but our trained staff will take a picture of you in front of the helicopter and provide a high resolution digital copy to you via email & text.
If you have booked a regular daytime, sunset or night helicopter tour, then you are likely to have other passengers flying with you. We carry up to six passengers.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide alcohol but please contact us about arranging a romantic private flight for two. We can arrange non-alcoholic refreshments, music, and photographs/video. All you need to do is bring your sweetheart! Just talk to us and we can create the private flight of your dreams.
A note regarding alcohol. Intoxicated passengers will not be allowed to fly. This is for your own safety and the safety of the other passengers.
WHAT SORT OF WEATHER PREVENTS YOU FROM FLYING?
We want to make sure you get the best bang for your buck however we cannot fly in thunderstorms, snowstorms or low visibility. It’s plain and simple. If you can’t see the city we can’t fly in it.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS BAD WEATHER?
We keep a very close eye on the weather and we always try to give you as much notice as possible if your tour has to be rescheduled.
If weather may affect your flight, we try to give you as much notice as possible. Because the weather in Chicago is constantly changing and weather men are always wrong it can be difficult to predict weather. If your tour must be rescheduled due to weather we will contact you and reschedule you at no charge..
It is important that all passengers understand the pre-flight briefing. The instruction given during the briefing educates you on the procedures to follow during your helicopter experience and are designed to keep you safe at all times. Please follow these instructions for your own safety around helicopters.
Before you fly, it’s important to know what is expected of you.
The pilot and/or staff will tell you when and how to enter and exit the helicopter, they are there to ensure your safety but can only do so with your cooperation.
For your safety and the best experience possible we do not fly in thunderstorms, snowstorms, or conditions which produce low-visibility. We want you to have a safe and enjoyable experience when you fly with us, therefore if your flight will be unsafe due to weather or you views of Chicago will be hindered due to low visibility we will contact you as early as possible to reschedule your tour. The weather can change rapidly in Chicago but if the weather threatens your flight, we will let you know as soon as possible to reschedule your flight. If your flight is rescheduled due to weather there is no additional charge.
